A Message From Lark Academy’s Founder

It is, without a doubt, a difficult time for our local and global community. Lark Academy is having to make hard decisions, as are many, about the best way forward in these uncertain times. We are, as ever, committed to serving our community and will be following health recommendations as they evolve.

I often talk about providing students with the ability to maintain an optimistic, future-oriented mindset, a phrase that takes on new meaning in our current crisis. The sentiment remains firm however, we can do our best to prepare with the resources available, we can take action one day at a time, and we can do our best to plan for the day ahead. We acknowledge the difficulties and realities of today and engage in meeting tomorrow with perseverance, grit, and optimism.

As a former history teacher, this feels like a forging event for our nation. One that I hope sparks action toward the values and characteristics we most admire in society, the ones that will echo positively in years to come. Lark is committed to helping our community and will be devising the best ways to do that in the coming days.

The hearts behind Lark Academy have not changed. We believe in redesigning high school for the 21st century. We believe in real education for the real world, resources for success now and in the future, and social-emotional development for a generation. We know these things are on the horizon. The days and months to come will bring new challenges and we are determined to meet them to the best of our ability.

We will provide updates about our programming as we have them. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.

Sincerely,
Elizabeth Dowell
